Often, when people hear of false arrest, they think of a police officer arresting someone without probable cause. But every day, security guards and corporate employees arrest hundreds of people. People have a Constitutional right to shop in places of public accommodation, yet many are targeted simply for “Shopping while Black” or because of other racial or cultural biases.

Many of these arrests are unfounded. Our attorneys have handled numerous false arrest cases against groceries, retail stores, malls, and other establishments. Too often, rent-a-cops are poorly trained, act out of emotion or prejudice, and violate individuals’ civil rights.

We’ve represented people who have been chained to walls by private security, separated from their children for hours, and illegally transported across state lines. In the course of making these unlawful arrests, private security officers have also physically injured our clients.
