Retaliation Within Oregon Law

Under Oregon law, at-will employees who don’t have a contract can be fired at any time. However, an employer cannot punish or fire someone to get back at them for standing up for their rights.

Fired Unfairly? We Can Help.

Employees are legally protected from retaliation in the workplace. Examples include reporting criminal activity, making a wage claim, fighting discrimination and applying for workers’ compensation benefits.

Courts decide whether or not an employee’s action is protected under Oregon workplace statutes by determining whether the employer is a public or private entity, the nature of the employee’s complaint, and how the employee made the complaint.

If you believe your employer retaliated against you or fired you for an unfair reason, call us to discuss the situation. You may have a case.
