Under Oregon law, dog owners are responsible if their dog injuries someone if they knew or should have known that the dog was vicious.
Hurt By a Dog? We Can Help.
Dogs are not allowed to roam freely. Oregon law requires dogs to be on a leash at all times, including in parks, except in designated off-leash areas. Merely calling the dog a “guard dog” does not protect the owner from liability. In addition to bites, the owner can also be responsible for injuries caused when a dog trips, frightens or knocks someone down. Normally, homeowner’s insurance covers injuries caused by a homeowner’s dog.
