Kafoury & McDougal won a $390,000 jury award for a motorcyclist who was seriously injured when a car turned in front of him on Scholls Ferry Road in 2008.
At the end of a three-day trial in the courtroom of Judge Charles Bailey, jurors rejected claims that motorcyclist Joseph Timmerman caused the accident by speeding, and found that Joan Stiles alone was at fault. The jury awarded noneconomic damages of $250,000 and economic damages of $140,000.
Timmerman, now in his mid-20s, made a strong recovery from severe injuries but has only limited use of his left arm. Despite this accident, he has successfully pursued a career as an insurance agent.
