Former Star Athlete Suffers Brain Injury in Collision

hwy_26_with_mt_hoodD.J. was struck on the driver’s door by a car that was accelerating to make it uphill under snowy conditions on Hwy 26 E towards Mt. Hood. He had instinctively turned to the right to protect his daughter from the force of the impact, and suffered great injuries as a result. While hospitalized, it was discovered that his aorta was leaking, and he had emergency surgery to save his life. A large, powerful man, he had been a star football player and an avid hunter and fisherman and had worked as an executive at a trucking company. He never completely recovered. We settled the case for about $3.5 million.
