A 34-year-old Eugene man filed a lawsuit in Portland’s U.S. District Court that accused Donald Durand, now in his 70s, of sexually abusing him while the priest was posted to a parish in Silverton from 1986 until the mid-1990s. Durand was accused of abusing at least 11 men over a 40-year period. In a July 2005 deposition Durand invoked his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination more than 80 times. Kafoury & McDougal resolved the case for an undisclosed amount.
