A graduate of the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College who has been a federal law clerk and long time public interest lawyer, Linda specializes in complex litigation to protect natural resources, advocate for customers of regulated industries, protect civil liberties and defend Oregon’s system of direct democracy. She has spearheaded ratepayer lawsuits against electric utilities, which have achieved hundreds of millions of dollars in refunds for citizens. In recent years, she has taken part in settlements, which provided millions of dollars for funding a community bank, alternative energy projects and conservation programs in Oregon. Most recently, progressive state representatives asked her to be part of what they called “a dream team of small-business and consumer advocate ‘Davids’ to quietly fight the health insurance corporate lobby ‘Goliaths’ on rate filing transparency.” “We succeeded in moving health insurance rate reform in Oregon forward this past year, but we can never give up on using the courts to further economic fairness and social justice,” says Linda.
